Meet the first members of our Strategic Advisory Panel

Written by LYVA Labs | Wed, Apr 27, 2022

LYVA Labs was created to drive growth and innovation across Liverpool City Region. We want to work with the people who challenge the way we do things today and invest in the projects and technologies that push the boundaries of tomorrow. To do this we need a collaborative panel of external advisors who can contribute to making this happen with us.

Our strategic advisory panel was set up to provide a link between LYVA Labs and the Liverpool City Region health and life sciences, innovation and technology ecosystems. It is these organisations that will support the ongoing operations and future strategy of our role as a leading incubator, investor and technology commercialisation organisation for Liverpool City Region.

There are currently 17 members on the panel; some with a specific health and life sciences focus and others who relate to the innovation ecosystem and wider economic growth strategy within Liverpool City Region. This mix of members will ensure that all plans put forward by LYVA Labs are fully aligned and integrated with the wider LCR ecosystem.

LYVA Labs CEO, Lorna Green, will chair the panel and comments here:

“Having a strategic advisory panel is crucial for the continued growth and success of LYVA Labs. With the panel members on hand to maintain an overview of activities in their fields, we’ll be able to determine future priority technology sectors and leverage member expertise on a range of different things including activities, development, commercialisation, and business support. I’m already grateful for their contribution and look forward to working with members”.

The LYVA Labs strategic advisory panel consists of the following members:

  • John Whaling, LCR Combined Authority
  • Dr Phil Jennings, Innovation Agency
  • Mark Basnett, Growth Platform
  • Colin Sinclair, Sciontec and KQ Liverpool
  • Tony Reeves, Liverpool City Council
  • Dr Barbara Ghinelli, UKRI-STFC
  • Paul Treloar, Sci-Tech Daresbury
  • Dr Dawn Lawson, Liverpool Health Partners
  • Prof. Janet Hemingway, Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine and iiCON
  • Prof. Anthony Hollander, University of Liverpool
  • Mark Power, Liverpool John Moores University
  • Andy Hulme, North West Business Leadership Team
  • John O’Brien, MSIF
  • Claire Lewis, Baltic Ventures
  • Liz Ashall-Payne, ORCHA
  • Dr Elliot Street, Inovus
  • Bernard Ross, Sky Medical

The panel will also work to make sure there is an effective route of communication for LYVA Labs and the wider LCR ecosystem to discuss strategic plans and any issues that might arise along the way, and will frequently liaise with other advisory panels, LCR boards and steering groups to ensure our ambitions are aligned with those of the combined authority and ecosystem leaders.

Like LYVA Labs, the strategic advisory board was initially established in the area of health and life sciences but will evolve and develop in line with LYVA Labs and our wider areas of focus as our timeline progresses.

LYVA Labs was established to help early stage innovators turn their ideas into reality and was funded by Liverpool City Region Combined Authority.
